Please find below our Submission to the Commission

We believe that there is now an ideal opportunity to make some significant changes to the General Election Boundaries in Cork and in particular to the areas currently in Cork North West

Ballincollig is currently in Cork North West for General Elections and in Cork City for Local Elections. We believe that the interests of the people of Ballincollig would be better served if it was in one of the Cork City General Election Constituencies. The needs of the very urban area of Ballincollig is very different to those from the mostly rural areas of the Cork County Constituencies.

We would also propose that Macroom and the surrounding area would be moved into Cork South West and that the remaining areas of Charleville, Freemount, Kanturk, Newmarket, Millstreet etc would move into a new Constituency with Mallow, Mitchelstown and Fermoy.

The Local electoral areas of Kanturk, Mallow and Fermoy currently form the North Division within Cork County Council while the Macroom Electoral Area is part of the South Divison within Cork County Council.

These changes we believe would be to the benefit of the people in theses areas and are we maintain sensible suggestions.
