I submit that the population, geography, topography and history of Kerry and it’s politics, makes a compelling case for two constituencies, electing three Teachtaí Dála each.
There is no need to breach county boundaries and the Kerry North & South traditionally were recognised separations.
North & South separate both large towns.
The size of the county must also be taken in to account for the purpose of representation and an important point to note is that many people, owning holiday homes in Kerry, look to our local Public Representatives to help them with any issues that they have in Kerry, even though they have no vote or permanent domicile here.
I have yet to hear anybody promoting the virtues of a single five seat constituency here and the population increase had pointed the way.
