Dear Electoral Commission,

I wish to make a submission about the Constituency Review.

A) Dáil Constituency of Wicklow

Wicklow now has a population of 155,485 people as of 2022. I recommend the following:

1. Give County Wicklow an extra seat, to ensure it has provision in line with constitutional requirements.
2. Create two Wicklow constituencies with three seats each.
3. Create a three seat constituency for North East Wicklow. Geographically and culturally, the Bray and Greystones Municipal Districts are similar. In addition I would recommend adding Newtownmountkennedy, Kilpeddar and Kilquade to such a constituency.
4. Create a three seat constituency for the rest of County Wicklow. This would ensure that there is representation spread throughout County Wicklow. Currently all five TDs are based in the northeast.

B) European Parliament Constituencies

The current constituencies are too spread out for MEPs to connect with constituents. I recommend:

1. Restoration of the 1974-2004 constituency boundaries.

• This would result in the constituencies having a much clearer identity in Irish society.
• These areas have proud provincial identities.
• For Leinster (without Dublin) the population is nicely spread out, so that one area does not dominate.
