Constituency
Louth, Meath East
Please consider alterations to the current constituency boundaries of Drogheda and East Meath to take a more holistic and orderly approach towards the local administration, planning and development and environment in this Region.
City status is urgently required for Drogheda and its surrounding urban area.
The area has a large population of 59,000 with a growth rate of 12.7%, above the national average rate, and is the fastest growing urban centre in Ireland.
With 7100 residential units planned for construction along the new Port Access Northern Cross Route alone, which is currently under construction the population of the area is set to continue to expand at an unprecedented rate.
A population centre of this size requires a central administration and management, free from the constraints of county borders, to provide adequate planning, development, infrastructure and services to create a high quality and sustainable urban centre.
