Constituency
Louth, Meath East
To Whom It Concerns
I refer to the electoral area of Louth / Drogheda East Meath.
Since the early 1990’s both Meath and Louth County Councils have planned the areas of Drogheda and East Meath as a commuter district for outward journey work to Dublin, Dundalk and elsewhere. A study commissioned in 2020 found that 15,000 of the citizens of Drogheda East Meath travel outside the region for work.
We share the same demographic make up, having a large population of new comers with young families. Politically it makes sense to elect representatives that work for the development of sustainable living in our area.
Many organisations such as An Garda, An Post, Credit Unions, Uisce Eireann, Educators all view Drogheda East Meath as one district.
Given the area is the State’s fastest growing area, in the coming years we need to plan for a large metropolitan area, with sustainable living and the creation of 30,000 jobs locally.
Working together, we can achieve this. We need to elect public representatives who will put the citizens of Drogheda East Meath front and centre.
Today this is a 3 seat constituency and will grow rapidly over the next 10 years.
Thank you for considering my submission and I wish you well in your work.
