I wish to make representation in respect of the proposed constituency boundary review for the upcoming European election.
The principle of proportionality would most be observed if Ireland is to entail a single national constituency. This form of constituency was used in twenty-three countries for the 2019 European elections and would be suitable for Ireland as the current constituencies are too large to function as local constituencies. There is no provision of the Irish Constitution or EU Treaty which prohibits such a constituency.
