In the last two elections, the area of Bishopstown in which I live was placed in the Cork North Central constituency. Bishopstown is in the south west of Cork city and should of course be part of the Cork South Central constituency.

Basing constituency boundaries on population numbers alone disregards cultural difference and the right of people to be represented by and vote for politicians from their local area, who know the issues of concern to them. Prior to the last election, my area was very quiet because it was hardly canvassed at all by the candidates for Cork North Central.

Please return Bishopstown to the Cork South Central constituency, so that the people who live here can be represented by the TDs who will fight for our issues in Dáil Éireann.
