Number of TDs required to represent the population

Dear Sir or Madam,

It would be ridiculous to keep increasing the number of TDs. The present system was devised long before mobile phones and emails were invented. TDs no longer need to cycle around their constituencies and to hold clinics. Most contact between TDs and their constituents are done on Email or twitter. trying to get a face to face meeting with your local rep. is next to impossible.

The present number of TDs is already too great, 100 to 110 would be more than enough. we have probably the highest ratio in Europe as it is.

What we need is a referendum to change the constitution to bring us into line with most modern democracies. I am therefore calling on you to make a recommendation to this effect, this is quite clearly what the majority of the country want.
