To whom it may concern,

I have served as a member of Wicklow County Council for 12 years in the Wicklow Electoral Area and was elected as a TD for the 5 seat constituency in 2016.

County Wicklow is a massive geographic area to cover in relation to political representation and following the 2020 General Election the people are now being represented by 5 TD’s from the Bray and Greystones Electoral Areas in North Wicklow.

In order to ensure that there would be Oireachtas representation from the Wicklow Electoral Area, the Arklow Electoral Area and the Baltinglass Electoral Area, I contested the Seanad election and was successful.

Since 2020 I have been struck by the number of people, communities, businesses and sporting associations that have spoken publicly about the lack of balanced political representation in County Wicklow as a whole.

I ask that the Boundary Commission give consideration as to how fair and balanced political representation to Dáil Eireann can be restored.
