Regarding Constituency Review Submission for Co. Wicklow
To whom it may concern,
As a part of the electoral constituency review process, I would like to raise concerns about the lack of geographical representation across County Wicklow.
As a business owner and farmer based in Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow, I think the time has come for the county to be divided for representation purposes. Due to the concentration of populationbased in the more urban areas of Wicklow i.e. Blessington, Greystones, Delgany and Bray, rural Wicklow is severely affected, disadvantaged and underrepresented at a regional and national level.
It is my opinion that there should be a division of Co. Wicklow into ‘Wicklow Rural’ and ‘Wicklow Urban’ with Blessington, Bray, Greystones, Delgany and Newtown forming the ‘Urban’ constituency and the rest of Wicklow being represented by the ‘Rural’ Constituency.
It is my opinion that this will provide the entirety of Wicklow with a voice and the representation it sorely needs with regard to national policies affecting the entire population of Ireland, as currently those decisions are being made by people based in urban areas who are not representative of the entirety of our county and rural Ireland.
Sincerely,
Shane Byrne
